Hello,

My name is Sofia.

I am a full-time mom to two amazing boys with autism, a homeschool teacher, an online biz coach, and now a travel blogger.

I became a travel blogger by accident.

I once considered becoming a travel blogger but quit after encountering a series of mental blocks about what to write. I am a former flight stewardess with Singapore Airlines and a backpacker. I love traveling, and I have always dreamed of living on different continents at different times of the year.

Traveling rejuvenates my soul and makes big problems solvable …

To make a living as a blogger and a mother to two autistic boys … Hell no! I doubt that was possible because getting them to leave the house already feels like pulling a tooth out. So No thank you.

But something happened that gave me an epiphany to revisit this old dream.

I was ready to launch my online coaching business when I learned I had to homeschool my youngest son. He is a bright and sweet kid, but his autism is in his way to learn, benefit from FAPE, and make friends. It was a heartbreaking decision that left me feeling depressed. I couldn’t focus on my business no matter how hard I tried.

So I did something reckless. I used the money I had set aside for my business to pay my income tax and for rainy days to get three air tickets to Europe for my children and me. I knew my act was irresponsible, but I did it because I wanted to feel excited about my life again.

Soon after I hit pay … a voice came into my head. “Sofia you’ve always loved traveling and you teach people how to make money online. How about becoming a travel blogger!”

Just like that, I became a travel blogger.

If you have ever thought of becoming a blogger, I highly suggest you don’t go through this process alone or the way I did.

I had the courage to go with my gut because I had 8 years of experience starting an online business. I know what to do and what to avoid, and I have a team of experts to support my idea.

Traveling is an expensive pastime, hobby, and business venture.

Being a travel blogger may seem exciting and adventurous, but diving into it without a plan can lead to various challenges and drawbacks:

Financial instability:

Without a plan, it’s challenging to monetize your travel blog effectively. You may not have a steady income stream to sustain your travels, leading to financial stress and potentially cutting short your blogging career.

Lack of direction:

A plan helps provide direction and purpose to your travel blogging journey. Without it, you may find yourself aimlessly wandering from one destination to another without a clear focus or theme for your content.

Difficulty in building an audience:

Building a loyal audience takes time and consistent effort. Without a content creation, promotion, and engagement plan, it’s challenging to attract and retain followers interested in your travel experiences.

Risk of burnout:

Traveling without a plan can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Constantly being on the move without adequate rest and downtime can lead to burnout, affecting your health and the quality of your blog content.

Limited opportunities for collaboration and partnerships:

Brands and tourism boards often seek out travel bloggers for collaborations and partnerships. However, without a plan and a defined niche, attracting these opportunities and building mutually beneficial relationships with brands is challenging.

Legal and logistical challenges:

Traveling to different countries without proper planning can lead to legal and logistical challenges such as visa issues, transportation mishaps, and cultural misunderstandings. These challenges can disrupt your travel plans and negatively impact your blogging activities.

Inconsistent content quality:

A lack of planning can result in inconsistent content quality on your blog. Without a clear strategy for content creation and curation, you may struggle to maintain the standards expected by your audience, leading to a decline in engagement and followers.

Difficulty in measuring success:

Without a plan, it’s challenging to set specific goals and metrics to measure the success of your travel blogging efforts. This can make tracking your progress difficult and making informed decisions to improve your blog over time.

While being a travel blogger can be an exciting and rewarding career, having a well-thought-out plan to maximize your chances of success and avoid common pitfalls along the way is essential.
