Becoming a Travel Blogger: A Reboot

Have you ever thought of becoming a travel blogger? Have you dreamed of embracing the travel nomad lifestyle? Or are you simply interested in making a living while traveling?

If so, keep reading.

The Call to Adventure

Last year, I felt a strong calling to become a travel blogger. Like many aspiring travel content creators, I launched a website, invested in travel gear, and booked my first flight, eager to begin my journey.

Fast-forward a year, and I found myself sitting on a treasure trove of photos and B-roll footage—most of which I never published.

Why? Because I underestimated the enormity of being a travel blogger.

Travel Blogger vs. Travel Nomad

You might be wondering: how does being a travel blogger differ from being a travel nomad?

The two often overlap, but they are distinct paths.

Travel bloggers document their journeys through blogs, photos, and videos, sharing their experiences with an audience. Some do it as a passion project, while others seek to monetize their content.

Travel nomads, on the other hand, are people who travel full-time while earning a living. Some work remotely for companies, while others build their own businesses to sustain their lifestyle.

The Digital Nomad Factor

This is where the concept of the digital nomad comes in.

Anyone can call themselves a digital nomad simply because they choose to work and travel simultaneously. However, there is also a legal aspect to this lifestyle. Some digital nomads apply for Digital Nomad Visas, which allow them to legally reside in a foreign country while working remotely.

(I’ll write a separate blog on Digital Nomad Visas soon, so stay tuned!)

Sustainability is Key

Whether you choose to be a travel blogger, a travel nomad, or both, sustainability is crucial. Travel is an expensive hobby, and many people quit because they can’t sustain the lifestyle financially.

This is where the entrepreneurial spirit comes into play. If you want to travel long-term, you need a reliable income stream.

Funding the Lifestyle

To support this lifestyle, I had three options:

  1. Use my savings – but that would eventually run out.
  2. Find a remote job – but I didn’t want to depend on an employer.
  3. Become a freelance business owner – allowing me full control over my income and freedom.

I chose the third option. Becoming my own boss aligns with my vision of freedom and adventure. I’ve learned from my past mistakes and am now ready to build a sustainable, thriving travel business.

Hitting Reset

So here I am, rebooting my travel blogging journey. This time, I am approaching it with a fresh perspective—one rooted in sustainability, entrepreneurship, and a deeper understanding of what it truly means to be a travel blogger and digital nomad.

If you’re considering this path, know that Travel Blogging is more than just capturing beautiful moments. It’s about building a lifestyle that supports your passion for exploration.

Are you ready to take the leap?
